Class Métodos de Investigação em Arquitectura II

  • Presentation

    Presentation

    This Curricular Unit aims to address the themes and problems of scientific research within the scope of the specificity of the project in architecture and urbanism, as well as the analysis of architectural and urban space. The field of intervention lies in the knowledge of the methodological tools necessary for the understanding of a systematic investigation in the following topics: computational tools to support design and research, as well as syntactic analysis of architectural and urban space. Therefore, it seeks to have a complementary approach to the subjects introduced in the UC on Research Methods in Architecture I in domains that require learning about programs and computer systems compatible with a more specific knowledge of research methodologies

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    This course aims to present a set of research topics used in the field of architecture, with the aim of adapting the means available to achieve the objectives in terms of research dealing with the following topics:

    1. Scientific research and the specificity of architecture and urbanism;

    2. Formulation of objectives and assessment of problems;

    3. Identification of the methodology and types of research: rules and models;

    5. Directions for preparing the research plan;

    6. Theoretical background and field work;

    7. Treatment of primary and secondary sources: recording, archiving, organization and retrieval of information;

    8. Analysis of results;

    9. Formulation of conclusions;

    10. Drafting and presentation of research report.
