This course addresses the social dimension of governance and integrated water resources management, analysing the role of different actors, institutions and participation processes in water management. It explores different models of water governance at the European and global levels, as well as the challenges associated with managing the impacts of climate change on the water cycle. Special attention is also given to analysing societal perceptions and attitudes towards water, based on recent studies and surveys. The course also includes participatory and interactive activities that simulate governance and decision-making processes.

Water governance models in Europe and worldwide. Managing climate change impacts on the water cycle. Social analysis of perceptions and attitudes towards water, based on recent studies and surveys conducted in Europe and Portugal. Interactive activity: Water Community of Practice - role play exercise in which each participant assumes the role of a stakeholder in water governance processes.
