Cláudia P. Pires. Assistant Professor in Psychology at Lusófona University – Centro Universitário de Lisboa and at Instituto Superior Miguel Torga, Coimbra, Portugal, across the undergraduate programme in Psychology and the Master’s programme in Clinical and Health Psychology. Researcher at the Digital Human-Environment Interaction Lab (HEI-Lab), Lusófona University, and at CINEICC – Centre for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive Behavioural Intervention, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Coimbra. PhD in Clinical Psychology (2024) and MSc in Clinical Psychology – Cognitive-Behavioural Interventions (2015) from the University of Coimbra. Doctoral research focused on the development, implementation, and evaluation of a contextual cognitive-behavioural intervention for adolescents with high test anxiety. Advanced training in contextual cognitive-behavioural therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Mindfulness-based interventions, applied to adolescent and adult populations. Licensed Clinical Psychologist by the Order of Portuguese Psychologists, member of the Portuguese Association of Behaviour Therapy (APTC), and certified trainer. Research interests focus on socioemotional processes underlying psychological functioning and psychopathology, particularly anxiety and adolescent development, from evolutionary and neurobiological perspectives. This includes research on test and social anxiety, shame and social rank dynamics (e.g., cooperation and competition), and process-based mechanisms such as psychological flexibility and compassion. Additional interests include the conceptualization, assessment, and contextual treatment of anxiety-related difficulties, as well as psychological functioning in contemporary digital environments.
