    EXERCISE from LITERATURE to IMAGE.

    Reading and analysis of selected stories. Elaboration of series of images to illustrate each story. To conceive a way of showing the relation between the text and the illustrations, either through an artist's book or a certain expositive montage.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    Understand the close and historical relationship between text and image, between saying and showing (subtitling vs. illustration).

    Develop a visual and plastic imagery from the mental imagery stimulated by chosen short stories.

    Interpret and design illustrations from an imaginary stimulated by the text; create a visual, coherent and authorial graphic and pictorial language, which is based on a text. Know how to display and display the work done. Explore creatively a plastic expression in the field of illustration. Ability to recognize the distinguish between show and say and the concepts of hypotipose and écphase.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The syllabus is developed in two exercises that are monitored by the professor and preceded by theoretical introductions and practical demonstrations.

    Exercises are carried out in class, without prejudice to students doing homework and researching and collecting information outside of school hours.

    Two illustration projects consolidate the acquired knowledge.

    The final grade expresses criteria of attendance and punctuality, as well as fulfillment of the objectives of the discipline.

    Assessment takes place in three ways: continuous (mandatory attendance at 75% of classes); intermediate, for the first exercise, and final, focusing on the second exercise and remaining work of the semester.

    For each project there is criticism and self-criticism in the analysis of the results. The final evaluation results from the assessment of the exercises (50% + 50%).
