Mobility for teaching and Training

Mobility

Incoming Staff

Colleague exchanges between universities involve formal or informal agreements for teaching, research, or training placements, often leveraging existing partnerships or creating new ones. Details such as funding, duration (e.g., more than 8 teaching hours for the Erasmus program), and roles (teaching, observation of activities, research) are defined by the respective units, departments, or services, benefiting all parties with new perspectives, skills, and networks. The main steps include contacting counterparts or counterparts, defining a plan, setting deadlines (teaching, training), organizing funds (accommodation, travel), and handling logistics (teaching agreements, acceptance letters issued by host colleagues for visas).

Erasmus+ Settings

The Erasmus Programme is the largest Teaching Mobility program in the world. Promoted by the European Union and managed in its main objectives for teacher mobility are:

  • Establish and strengthen relations between Higher Education Institutions from the different participating countries;
  • Contribute to the sharing of knowledge and experiences in pedagogical methodologies;
  • Allow an opportunity for personal and professional enhancement to participating teachers.

STT – Staff Mobility for Training

For Teachers

It suggests participation in structured training activities within the Teaching-Learning Process, with a view to developing good teaching practices.

The proposed work plan defines the nature, objectives and content (institutions, calendar, pairs/groups and activities) within which the mobility takes place.

Staff Mobility Agreement: once the work plan is signed by the parties involved it qualifies as a Staff Mobility Agreement. At this point, the interest in the mobility experience stems from the mutual responsibility of the institutions and reflect the implicit value of the internationalization strategies of the institutions involved.

For Administrative and Technical Staff

STT mobility promotes inclusive institutional communication among technical and administrative staff in Higher Education institutions in the European Union, fostering the exchange of experiences.

It demonstrates the presentation of the dynamics of universities and the acquisition of knowledge resulting from the organization of information, with a view to good practices and innovation in both institutions.

To ensure high-quality activities with the greatest impact, mobility must be related to professional and personal development.

It is a training period at a partner institution, usually from 2 to 5 days, allowing participation in an activity relevant to the performance of duties, mostly training events, participating in actions promoted by European HEIs with similar teaching, professional associations, specialized laboratories, or shadowing and observing the work of colleagues (job-shadowing) in homologous units and bodies or similar services.

How can you apply?

  • Every year, Universidade Lusófona welcomes STT colleagues for job-shadowing during the week leading up to Europe Day on 9 May.
