Lusófona University was represented at the 3rd Hepatitis Gala, organised by the Rotary Clubs of Odivelas, Loures and Vila Franca de Xira, on 27 February, through its lecturer, Dr Paulo Sargento, as a guest speaker.

The Hepatitis Gala is a charitable public awareness event aimed at highlighting the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hepatitis, bringing together institutions, specialists and community organisations to discuss the impact of the disease and promote an approach based on care and empathy.

In his intervention, the lecturer emphasised the psycho-emotional and social impact on diagnosed citizens, underlining the importance of a holistic approach, where empathy and care are fundamental pillars, in a country where access to healthcare and the management of health systems face increasing challenges.

In addition to the presidents of the organising Rotary Clubs, the event was attended by the Governor of the Rotary in Portugal, the Mayor of Odivelas, and the Health Councillor of Loures City Council.
