The book is dedicated to reflecting on science and engineering in the current context, marked by rapid technological and social transformations.

The work, authored by lecturers Elói Figueiredo and Carlos Matias Ramos, proposes a broader view of engineering that goes beyond the traditional definition associated with construction and technical development. In this context, engineering is presented as a human activity that connects people, technologies and organisations, creating collaborative networks that enable the production and application of scientific knowledge.

According to the authors, the principles considered structural in engineering have been subject to constant change, driven by technological evolution. Among these transformations, the impact of artificial intelligence stands out, identified as one of the forces reshaping the sector.

In a context marked by uncertainty and information overload, the publication brings together a set of axioms that seek to strengthen the connection between engineering, society and nature. The work argues that, despite the advancement of machines, engineering only makes sense insofar as it serves human beings and supports natural balance.
