The Universidade Lusófona, through Professor Doctor Manuel José Damásio, Executive Administrator of the institution, has been appointed to represent the Portuguese Association of Private Higher Education (APESP) in the Global Governance Council of International Partnerships. This appointment strengthens ULusófona’s commitment to the internationalisation of Portuguese higher education and the enhancement of academic relations with some of the most prestigious universities in the United States.

The inclusion of APESP in the Governance Council aims to maximise the impact of international collaborations for Portugal, promoting high-level academic and scientific exchange. With the integration of Universidade Lusófona, Portugal takes on a more prominent role in the global higher education landscape, actively contributing to the formulation of strategies and initiatives for cooperation with world-renowned institutions.

Currently, international partnerships include collaborations with esteemed academic institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), and University of California, Berkeley. These initiatives have the potential to generate significant advances in strategic areas such as science, technology, and innovation, as well as promoting the development of joint projects and academic mobility for students and faculty.

ULusófona’s participation in this council reinforces the institution's role as one of the main players in private higher education in Portugal, consolidating its influence in the international sphere and contributing to the expansion of academic collaboration and research opportunities for the Portuguese academic community.
