ULusófona Takes Part in the Launch of the Private Higher Education Observatory

Lusófona University was present at the public presentation of the Private Higher Education Observatory, promoted by the Associação Portuguesa do Ensino Superior Privado (APESP), which took place on 20 January at the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation and Citizenship, Professor Isabel Babo, represented the institution, participating in the reflection and commentary panel, where the challenges and strategic role of private higher education in Portugal were discussed.
The opening session included speeches by the President of INE, António Gomes Rua, the President of APESP, António Almeida Dias, and the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Cláudia Sarrico. In her address, the Secretary of State highlighted the importance of systematic data collection and its qualified use, underlining its key role in supporting strategic decision-making and the development of public policies for the sector.
The technical presentation of the Observatory was delivered by its Coordinator, Cristina Ventura. This was followed by a reflection panel featuring David Justino, professor and former Minister of Education, Nuno Neto Rodrigues, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics, Luísa Loura, Director of Pordata, Isabel Babo, Vice-Rector of Lusófona University, and Cristina Ventura. The session was moderated by journalist Isabel Patrício, from ECO.
The event concluded with remarks by João Redondo, President of the General Assembly of APESP, marking the launch of an initiative aimed at strengthening knowledge and transparency in private higher education in Portugal.
