
University Day Celebrates Excellence and Outlines a Vision for the Future

The University Day at the Lisbon University Centre was the highlight of academic life, a solemn moment dedicated to reflecting on one's journey, academic and professional merit. This vibrant celebration honoured current achievements while casting an inspiring gaze towards the future.
Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre revived the esteemed tradition of University Day on April 11th at the Agostinho da Silva Auditorium. A special ceremony marked this significant day, paying tribute to its history and outlining its ambitious vision for the years ahead.
The ceremony was enriched by various memorable moments, from the traditional academic procession to the formal opening, complemented by musical interludes that framed the occasion. One of the highlights was the eloquent address by Professor António Fidalgo, entitled "The Future of the Humanities," which invited reflection on the importance of these fields in the contemporary world.
The ceremony also featured significant speeches from the Administrator and President of the Founding Entity, Professor Manuel de Almeida Damásio, as well as inspiring addresses from the Magnificent Rector of Lusófona University, Professor José Bragança de Miranda, and the Vice-Rector of Lusófona University and President of the Organising Committee, Professor Carlos Poiares. The voice of the students was also heard through the speech of the Student Representative of Lusófona University - CUL, Daniela Pinto.
One of the most anticipated moments was the distinction of meritorious students, as well as the professors and staff who stood out for their academic and professional excellence. More than a simple recognition ceremony, this event reaffirmed the institution's strong commitment to the ongoing pursuit of excellence and innovation, marking the beginning of a new and promising phase in its educational project.
