Lusófona University – Lisbon University Centre hosted the WIRE Summit 2026 from 13 to 16 April, an international meeting that brought together researchers, lecturers and students from the European FilmEU alliance. The event’s main objective was to share methodologies and practices within the field of practice-based artistic research.

The summit began with the official opening of the ARE exhibition at the Beato Innovation District (Casa das Massas), where several projects exploring the intersection between art and technology were presented.

At the Lusófona University campus, the Cinema Fernando Lopes hosted a keynote by artist and researcher Paul Seawright, as well as several presentations of projects developed במסגרת WIRE. Among the highlights was the launch of the REASSESS Toolkit, a tool designed to support artistic research.

Over the four days, doctoral seminars and presentations of Horizon Mission Pilots projects took place, including ARWUM, Immersive Shipwrecks and Water as Time. These sessions fostered debate on the impact of artistic research in higher education and the creative industries, contributing to the strengthening of a European scientific community.

Studio F also hosted sessions dedicated to Virtual Production, where technologies such as LED walls, Unreal Engine and camera tracking systems were discussed. In parallel, workshops focused on the role of metadata in film analysis were held, alongside community-building activities aimed at applicants to doctoral programmes.
