Objectives
Objectives
The course will be structured in 3 main phases, each with its own contents and specificities: Pre-printing, Printing and Finishings. While this is not a linear process (each stage influences and is influenced by the one before and after it), it follows the timeline of producing graphic artifacts. In Pre-printing students will be taught how to prepare their document for printing, learning about topics such as color and color profiles; image quality, resolution and formats; and typographic treatment. In the end, students should be able to produce the final artwork (package) properly to be send for print. Printing stage will talk about printing technologies (digital vs. offset and other possibilities for different supports and ends) as well as materials (paper selection and usage, color). Finishings explained: cut, fold/crease, varnish/coating, embossing and debossing, stamping. A final module will encompass tricks and tips, importance of following the process and contacting the printer.
