Syllabus
1) Descriptive statistics: Introduction. Population and sample. Parameters and statistics. Variables and their classification. Tables and graphics for univariate and bivariate data. Descriptive measures. Simple linear regression. Introduction to SPSS. 2) Business metrics: Introduction. Index numbers. Simple and aggregated indexes. Consumer and producer price indexes. Value deflation. Quantity indexes.

Objectives
The curricular unit aims to introduce students to descriptive data analysis and business metrics to measure, control and improve the activities carried out by organizations. In this context, the SPSS software will be used. In the end, students should be able to use the acquired knowledge in order to solve practical problems in their training area.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Classes are of theoretical and practical nature, where the theoretical exposition of the syllabus is accompanied by the presentation of practical examples and exercises. Computers with the SPSS software will be used. Problem-based learning will be promoted, where the students, guided by the teacher, should identify problems and plan and carry out resolution paths.
