Objectives
Objectives
The main purpose of this subject is for students to understand public finances in various aspects, including the organization of public administrations, the different types of taxation and expenditure, the economic effects of taxes and public spending, the management of public debt and the preparation of the State budget. In the Public Economics component, the objective is to encourage students to analyze State intervention in market economies and its effects with regard to the efficient allocation of economic resources. It also explores how this state intervention affects economic agents, such as consumers and businesses.

Teaching methodologies
The theoretical-practical methodology of the discipline is based on an integrated approach that combines theoretical aspects with the practical application of the concepts learned. It begins with an exposition of the theoretical foundations of public finance and public economics, followed by group discussions to explore practical cases and real problems. Subsequently, students are guided in the critical analysis of academic texts and scientific articles, in order to acquire an in-depth understanding of different theoretical approaches and practical applications of economic policies.
