The main objective of the Energy and Environmental Economics course unit is to provide students with a deep understanding of the fundamental principles that govern the interaction between the economy, energy, and the environment. To this end, the course analyzes the economic dynamics associated with the production, distribution, and consumption of energy, as well as their environmental implications. The course also addresses the policies and strategies adopted in the field of energy and the environment, together with the current challenges related to sustainability, energy security, and climate change, encouraging the development of analytical and critical skills to assess and propose solutions to complex problems in these areas.

Objectives
Objectives
The main objective of the Energy and Environmental Economics curricular unit is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles that govern the interaction between the economy, energy and the environment, through the analysis of the economic dynamics behind production, distribution and energy consumption, as well as its environmental ramifications. Furthermore, this curricular unit will also analyze the policies and strategies adopted in the context of energy and the environment and the problems that the world faces in terms of sustainability, energy security and climate change. Students will thus be encouraged to develop analytical and critical skills in order to evaluate and propose solutions to complex problems involving these areas.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
The teaching methodology adopted in the Energy and Environmental Economics discipline aims to provide a dynamic and comprehensive educational experience. This includes lectures, case studies, debates, group work and the reading and critical analysis of scientific articles. Expository classes offer a solid theoretical basis, while case studies allow practical application of the concepts learned. Debates promote the exchange of ideas and perspectives and encourage critical thinking. Group work offers the opportunity to deepen knowledge and develop research and problem-solving skills. Through this diverse methodology, students will be able to understand the complex challenges related to the economy, energy, and environment, and develop solutions to face these same problems.
