    This course unit aims to provide updated foundational knowledge and reflections on the main issues of Innovation and Technology in Physical Education. Additionally, it is intended that students carry out project work with practical application in a real teaching context, using as an example the inherent difficulties of teaching and learning skating in Physical Education. In this way, students are expected to recognize the relevance of this knowledge and reflections to the practical issues of their future professional careers.

    Syllabus

    Basic functions of technology in PE teaching. Advantages and disadvantages of using technology. Differentiating the variety of technological tools for communication in PE. Sharing digital files with students in PE. Teaching through various forms of video technology. Tools for creating web pages, blogs, videos, wikis, online formative assessments, WebQuests, and cloud documents. Technology in the PE classroom. Project work applied to the subject of skating. Teaching skating. Contact with the skates; how to lift/fall; base position; static sliding; dynamic balance; dynamic sliding. Forward skating on a straight path; braking; heel braking. Forward skating in a half-turn; jumps. Technology in the interactive classroom with real-time information and formative assessment integrated into the teaching-learning process. Ways of using technology in educational situations with students with disabilities.

    Objectives

    OA1. Acquire knowledge of the fundamental concepts of innovation and technology in Physical Education and Sport; LO2. Develop the skills to carry out a research and intervention project that includes the ability to identify and analyse the different techniques and tools for using technology in different learning contexts, particularly in the teaching of skating. LO3: Know the criteria and be able to select and apply technology according to the complexity and type of information to be transmitted, the level, and context of learning. LO4. Perfect the practice of skating to master the difficulties involved in learning it. LO5. Develop mastery of the skating teaching process and master the skating assessment process in accordance with the objectives defined in the physical education programmes.

    Teaching methodologies

    Different teaching methodologies (TM) will be used: Presentation and Analysis of reference documentation (TM1), Observation, discussion, and analysis of videos and/or practical activities in a real context (TM2), Resolution of practical cases in a simulated situation of planning, organization, and intervention in the scope of teaching and learning (TM3), Field activities in small groups (TM4), Feedback on work developed (TM5).
