Resume
Andreia Filipa dos Santos Gomes is a Contracted Researcher at the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, where she is also an Assistant Professor at the Escola de Ciências e Tecnologias da Saúde. She completed her PhD in Molecular Biosciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica, in January 2021, following a Master’s degree in Biotechnology (2012) and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry (2011), both from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, respectively. Gomes has published 19 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals, contributing significantly to the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, and medical biotechnology. She has organized two academic events and participated in 13 others, fostering collaboration and the dissemination of scientific knowledge. In addition, Gomes has co-supervised one PhD thesis and one Bachelor’s/Master’s course completion project, demonstrating her commitment to mentoring and developing future researchers. Her research spans a broad range of areas within the natural and health sciences, with a particular emphasis on molecular biology, biochemistry, medical biotechnology, and nutrition. Gomes has worked extensively on the manipulation of cells, tissues, and organs, exploring their applications in health and disease. She also focuses on the impact of nutrition and dietetics on health, particularly how natural compounds, such as polyphenols, influence metabolic and immune responses. Throughout her career, Gomes has received seven awards and honors, recognizing her scientific contributions and academic achievements. She has also participated in several research projects, acting as a Master’s Student Fellow in three projects and a PhD Student Fellow in one. Her work continues to drive innovation in biological sciences and medical biotechnology, contributing to advancements in personalized nutrition, therapeutic interventions, and disease management in particular diabetes.
