Cândida Duarte Manuel is an Associate Professor at Lusófona University, Porto (UL-CUP), where she serves as Director of the Bachelor's programme in Environmental Engineering and is an active researcher. At the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technologies (FCNET), she teaches interdisciplinary engineering courses, including Mathematics, Statistics, Analytical Chemistry, and Water Quality and Treatment. Her research focuses on environmental sustainability, indoor air quality and microbiology, and water quality, with a particular interest in integrating scientific and pedagogical innovation in Higher Education. She has been involved in national and international research and educational projects, contributing to the advancement of environmental engineering and STEM education, and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications. She holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences (2008) from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), with research on the physicochemical and microbiological quality of drinking water, including the effects of biofilms and pipeline materials. She also holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Process Engineering and a degree in Chemical Engineering from FEUP.
