Eduardo Teixeira holds a PhD in Physical Activity and Health (2017) from the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto (FADEUP), where he investigated the sedentary behaviour effects on skeletal muscle repair, in an animal model, focusing on the regulatory effects of muscle recruitment on the immune system response. He holds a B.Sc. in Sports Sciences and an M.Sc. in Physical Activity and Health from the same institution. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the University Lusófona of Porto, and an Associated Researcher at the Research Centre in Physical Activity, Health and Leisure (CIAFEL), FADEUP, Portugal. He is addressing two main research fields: 1) exercise and sedentary behaviour effects on skeletal muscle quality in sports, health and disease, and 2) digital remote monitoring of physical activity, exercise and health-related physical fitness. His research group is studying the scientific value of wearable devices and biomarkers present in saliva, sweat and tears, as a strategy to monitor exercise-induced alterations.
