Mónica Nogueira Soares

Resume

Psychologist, higher education lecturer, researcher, school and family mediator and emotional and parental educator, she has been working in the field of psychology and education since 2006. She combines her different areas of specialization in order to create conditions for the promotion of formal and informal learning and strategies for autonomy, development and growth in the ways of thinking, being and acting of the various stakeholders (children and young people, families and teachers). She has a PhD in psychology with research in the area of conflict and violence in schools and is a full member of the Order of Psychologists, which recognizes her as a Specialist in Educational Psychology and Clinical and Health Psychology. She has postgraduate degrees in Psychology in Health Centers and in Conflict Mediation in School Contexts and has international certifications in Kids and Teen Coaching and in Emotional Education for children, as well as Profiler training. She has also worked in the area of training and parental education, and is certified to develop national and international parental education programs. She has specialized courses in eating disorders and family mediation. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Higher School of Education Paula Frassinetti and an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Maia - ISMAI. She is a member of the Research Center in Developmental Psychology as an integrated researcher, and also collaborates with the research group Practical Community of Teaching and Pedagogical Innovation (FPCEUP) and the Research Unit in Human Development and Psychology. She has worked for the Portuguese Red Cross and ADEIMA, as well as in the Education Division of Matosinhos City Council (specifically in the Abel Salazar School Group), as a school psychologist and as coordinator of the Ser e Estar project (observatory of incidents of indiscipline). She was also part of FPCEUP's coordination team for the innovation and curricular flexibility and autonomy project at Padrão Primary School between 2019 and 2023. From a technical and scientific point of view, she has coordinated and monitored various school and educational projects, such as "Conflict Mediation - For a new Culture of Coexistence", "Coexistence Class", "More School, More Coexistence", "Violence, No!" and "IN Mediation", based on a whole school approach paradigm. For the past two years, she has been responsible for supervising a technical team at a Family Support and Parental Counseling Center, in order to train, accompany and monitor technical intervention in a differentiated, scientific and intentional way. She is a conflict mediator certified according to the criteria of the Qualifying Assessment Program of the International Mediation Institute in the family and school areas, and has extensive experience and training in these areas. Still in the field of conflict mediation, she was a member of the governing bodies of the National Federation of Conflict Mediation between 2021 and 2024 and is a collaborator of the Mediation Institute of the Lusófona University of Porto. She is also on the list of Private Conflict Mediators of the Ministry of Justice's Directorate-General for Justice Policy and is an advisor and supervisor of internships in conflict mediation and psychology. As a trainer, certified by the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training, the Scientific Pedagogical Council for Continuing Training and the Directorate General for School Administration, she has taught various courses for teachers and other target audiences in the fields of psychology, socio-emotional skills, conflict management and mediation and violence prevention. She is the author of several scientific articles in national and international journals, has taken part in international and national conferences and has been a member of various scientific committees and event organizations. She' s the author of the book "Education for Coexistence at School".
