The class of Matemática I furnishes the tools needed to develop the quantitative techniques needed for the whole duration of the course as well as in the future professional life.

Determinants Definition; Theorem of Laplace; Adjunct matrix and inverse; Cramer's rule. 3. Exponential and logarithm functions Inverse functions; exponential function; logarithm function; Applications to Economics. 4. Limits and continuity Definition; calculating limits; continuity 5. Derivatives Definition and derivation rules; diferentials; derivative of the implicit function; relative extrema; Hôpital's rule; applications to Economics.

Students can use various open-source software programs to perform exercises and critically compare their own solutions.
