    This is the central of each semester. It aims to activate creativity among young people by developing exercises based on the foundations of design. The unit foresees several exercises that focus on a single key theme, "the Book". Its main objective is also to aggregate the competences developed in the other units.

    1. Introduction to the fundamentals of graphic design and composition, namely in 4 points that are exercised through a constant ¿dialogue¿ with visual grammars:
      - THE FORM - caracter, symbols, glyphs. 
      - THE PLAN- Space, grid and composition;
      - THE SCALE, Introduction to the types of sources (relation with the typography);
      - TEXTURE, Color, technique and composition (2D / 3D ratio);

    2. To develop this knowledge the student must:
      - identify and understand an issue;
      - investigate and identify auxiliary means;
      - Aggregate the knowledge acquired in the remaining classes;
      - develop the creative;
      - develop curiosity.

    3. Learning through problem solving, research and experimentation.

    1. This course aims for the student to start and understand how to develop autonomously a sustained and refined project thinking and learn to put together a coherent and solid body of research. It aims to instill individual and group work and research methodologies. It aims to stimulate autonomous critical thinking and stimulate discussion and joint analysis. It also aims to initiate structured individual work practices

      Objectives:
      · Develop and recognize the fundamentals of Composition;
      · Interpretation and decoding of Visual Culture;
      · Creation of visual meanings;
      · Visual object family development;
      · Development of signs, typografic characters and glyphs;
      · Development of conceptual thinking through case studies;
      · Development of an individual visual discourse.
      . Basic knowledge about the elements that constitute a Book.
      . Basic technical knowledge of printing and graphic production.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Learning through problem solving, research and experimentation and brainstorming - class debate, development of critical thinking.

    - Active and critical participation + demonstration of learning and delivery of elements - 10% times 6 exercises.

    - Active and critical participation + demonstration of learning and delivery of elements - 15% times 2 exercises.

    - 10% participation in curricular and extra curricular activities
