In this course, students watch films and produce their analysis and critique, based on theoretical principles of editing, composition, and rhythm. Students develop critical thinking skills in relation to narrative visual content. In parallel, students apply this knowledge through the practical creation of storyboards and animatics for the production of short mixed-technique animated films, with an emphasis on shaping audiovisual storytelling-namely framing and pacing-which are essential to the construction of a film.

Objectives
Objectives
Develop knowledge of cinematic language and its application to animated film. Develop basic knowledge of short-film production through storyboard, layout, and animatic. By the end of the semester, the student should be able to: / Analyze the essential components of an animated short film; / Formulate an informed opinion on a film's cinematic construction, considering its technical and conceptual components; / Define strategies to develop an original concept from basic elements such as a drawing, a photograph, or a text; / Develop a storyboard and animatic that communicate original concepts; / Define a visual strategy and its technical application in the service of a specific concept.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
The first classes consist of analyzing short narrative texts and adapting them graphically into storyboards, learning the types of shots that can be used in this conversion. In the second half of the semester, students are supervised throughout the conception and development of a storyboard, which will be converted into a layout animatic for an animated short film, the assessed project. During this period, masterclasses focused on technical methodology will also be presented, and examples will be screened comparing the storyboard and animatic with the final animation from both live-action and animated film productions, as well as behind-the-scenes processes.

Assessment
Assessment
A classificação do exame substitui a classificação anterior do módulo.
