Fitness IV is part of a set of Curricular Units that aim to equip students with proper tools for future professional practice. The theoretical-practical knowledge inherent in the Course Unit will allow students, in a future professional context, not only to evaluate physically and functionally individuals, but also to prescribe training programs for apparently healthy individuals. Thus, the knowledge on which this Curricular Unit is based will allow students to be able to recognize and understand the when, the why and the how of applying these tools.

Objectives
Objectives
The student should be able: - to assess physically and functionally healthy individuals, choosing the tools that fit the specific situation. - to adopt a functional physical assessment model, taking from the results the essential data for the exercise prescription. - to periodize the training for apparently healthy individuals, in a logic based on the movement. - to prescribe the training of cardiorespiratory fitness, strength and flexibility/mobility, in apparently healthy individuals. - to adopt the progressions in neuromuscular integration more appropriate to the context in which he is, being able to make the correct decisions on the applicability of the training with more analytical or more integrated characteristics. - to use the neuromotor training (proprioceptive) as well as to understand the contexts in which it is best suited. - to perform a biomechanical analysis of exercises in order to determine both muscular participation and risk benefit ratio.

Classes: expository, experimentation, guided discovery, and analysis/resolution of case studies). Continuous evaluation: - 2 tests (20% per test) - 16 mini-tests with 5 questions on material from the previous class (8%) - Observation and practice in context (12%) - physical and functional assessment instruments (20%) - group work with presentation on training prescription of a study case (20%) Grades must be higher than 9.5 out of 20 in all components (a resit examination will be required for assessments with a grade below this threshold). This requirement reflects a commitment to academic rigour and the quality of education. It aims to ensure that students demonstrate the acquisition of all essential competencies, promoting solid training, professional responsibility, and academic merit, which are fundamental for ethical, critical, and competent professional practice. Attendance is mandatory in at least 70% of classes. The examination assessment is equivalent to the continuous assessment.
