Objectives
Objectives
The course has the following learning objectives:
LO1. Explain and discuss the current relevance of psychology in understanding events and phenomena of human behaviour and its contexts, integrating psychological perspectives in looking at the current world.
LO2. Identify and describe the main specialties and subspecialties in the area of Psychology, namely its object of study, theoretical principles and methodological approaches.
LO3. Recognise and distinguish the different fields of action and specific populations with which Psychology works.
LO4. Identify some emerging areas of Psychology and discuss the main challenges faced by psychologists who investigate and work in these areas.
LO5. Apply in person and in written and/or oral format the knowledge acquired about each of the topics covered.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The classes are theory and practice driven, using the expository method to describe the main characteristics of each area covered, their research methodologies, and strategies of action, and are complemented with updated readings that address the most central debates in each area. Also include debates in class, based on scientific publications, audiovisual material, or other sources, serving the promotion of critical thinking and questioning.
