The curricular Unit Atelier III - Project Planning and Management aims to develop skills in the field of action research methodologies and to promote conceptual and technical knowledge of the importance of Sociology and the role of the sociologist in programs/strategies/projects of social intervention. It is intended students acquire knowledge on planning and evaluation methodologies both in the application of public policies and in projects of organizations/associations of different domains in society (poverty, social exclusion and unemployment; ethnic discrimination and inequalities gender, environment and climate change, education, among others).

Research-Action Action Research in Sociology The role of Sociology and sociologist in the design of public policies and in the participation in programs/strategies of social intervention. Planning and evaluation methodologies Main concepts, diversity of methodologies and types of planning Diversity of evaluation methodologies Main stages of a social intervention project (pre-diagnosis, diagnosis, general objectives, specific objectives, intervention strategies, action plan, monitoring and evaluation) Main evaluation modalities (ex-ante evaluation; ongoing evaluation; final evaluation; ex-post evaluation) Analysis of intervention programs/strategies/projects conceived within the scope of public organisation, associations and non-governmental organizations of different areas

Objectives
This curricular unit aims to approach students to the importance of action research, planning and evaluation methodologies on public policies and third sector projects that intervene in different areas of society. It is intended that students learn how to construct a social intervention project, recognize the main phases of a program/strategy/intervention project, as well as identify the available methodologies in the evaluation process and the results achieved.
