Syllabus
The two exercises are based on two study visits that serve as stimuli for the construction of two research contexts. From each visit, a collective dialogue is promoted around the thematic universes, their possible objects of representation, the associated visual culture and literature, building a common archive of references. For each exercise, the student must select or produce a literary text framed within one of these thematic universes, which will serve as the basis for the development of a visual narrative. The illustrations should integrate the text and reflect a personal interpretation of the theme, using the materials, techniques, and supports considered most appropriate. The exercises are distinguished by their intended results: Exercise 1: Visual narrative composed of 5 images in poster format (minimum A3). Exercise 2: Visual narrative in illustrated book format, with at least 10 images, plus cover and back cover.

Objectives
Objectives
- To understand the historical relationship between text and image, distinguishing different modes of articulation between saying and showing in the context of illustration; - To know and problematize fundamental concepts of verbal and visual narrative, especially the relationships between text and image, as well as the notions of ekphrasis and hypotyposis; - To develop research methodologies applied to illustration, mobilizing references from literature, visual culture, and direct observation; - To explore different techniques, materials, and processes of graphic reproduction, selecting those most appropriate to the conceptual and formal intentions of each project; - To develop illustration projects in different formats, understanding the narrative and material specificities of media such as posters and illustrated books.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Learning develops through two illustration projects, accompanied by their respective conceptual frameworks, presentation of visual and literary references, and technical demonstrations. Project development is supported by individual teacher guidance and group discussion, promoting the progressive consolidation of the expected competencies. The projects are developed primarily in class, without prejudice to independent work. Each exercise includes an interim assessment, aimed at critically discussing the work in progress and defining strategies for its development, culminating in the final evaluation. The evaluation prioritizes the evolution of the work, the capacity for investigation, interpretation and experimentation, as well as the conceptual, technical and communicational quality of the proposals. The final grade is the result of the evaluation of the two projects (45% + 45%) and participation (10%).
