Syllabus
The theoretical component of the discipline focuses on the study of housing typologies as a support for a cultural memory contributing to the morphology of the city and the peripheries, focusing on the intrinsic relationship between street and habitat, as an integrated process of architectural and urban design. Introduction to elementary types of housing in an urban context: the horizontal house; the courtyard house; the cubic house; the vertical house; the block building; the stem, etc. The practical component is based on the design and physical model, the analysis of the elements and the compositional and constructive systems as determinants of the formation and characterization of the housing space. Two or three exercises are performed according to pre-established themes.

Objectives
The exercise of architecture rehearsed in the context of urban habitat. Experimentation of different design methodologies based on the interrelationships between structure / model / technical drawing. The formation of architectural concepts; conceptual paradigms (mass, structure and skin); analysis / synthesis sequences in the design stages. Introduction to experimental composition processes. Introduction to the study of different habitat typologies in the urban context. Utilitarian, psychological and symbolic functions of spaces. Introduction to the study of the city through the street context as a place of experiences and memories. The rhetoric of the city in the construction of architectural rhetoric and vice versa. Analysis of elements in balance, constructive and compositional systems, as determinants of the formation and characterization of the built space.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The teaching methodology of PA IV seeks to awaken in the student research methodologies for the elaboration of the Project Licensing, structured around three fundamental elements: the Program, the Site and the Materials. The study of these elements is done through three basic supports of representation: the set Bizarre / Geometry / Hand Drawing; the model of study; the Technical Drawing. Innovative methodologies to support the teaching-learning process The methodologies envisaged are related to the articulation between the theoretical knowledge conveyed in the classroom (using the projection of slide shows and films) and its articulation with the practical work requested.
