Class Analytical Methods II

  • Presentation

    Presentation

The curricular unit Analytical Methods II deepens the study of key instrumental techniques in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with applications in quality control, structural characterization, and drug modulation. It covers chromatographic methods (HPLC, GC, SFC, hyphenated techniques) and electroanalytical techniques (conductimetry, potentiometry, electrogravimetry, coulometry), focusing on their analytical capabilities. The unit aims to equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge to autonomously perform experimental procedures, critically analyze results, and optimize analytical methodologies applied to complex pharmaceutical systems.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

The course of Analytical Methods II aims to follow the course of Analytical Methods I and complement the knowledge already gained in this area with other equally important methods within the Pharmaceutical Sciences, focusing on their application to quality control, structural characterization, and drug modulation. Thus, analytical methods II will be addressed, involving the methods of chromatographic separation, with particular relevance for liquid-liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas-liquid chromatography, and, lastly, chromatography with supercritical fluids and hyphenated techniques. Finally, we will study the electroanalytical methods: conductometric methods, potentiometry, electrogravimetry, and coulometry.
