Class Research Seminar in Informatics Didactics

  • Presentation

    Presentation

    — The UC Seminar on Research in Informatics Didactics is a space for work, reflection, analysis and problematization of issues related to the learning of Informatics and ICT.
    — It is intended to provide future teachers of Informatics with a set of critical reading skills of research in didactics of Informatics that will allow them to obtain an investigative perspective on their own professional practice.
    — Given that this UC takes place in the 1st semester simultaneously with the preparation of the intervention plan (in IPP III) to be implemented in a real class (to be carried out in the 2nd semester in IPP IV), it acquires an articulating role and synthesis.

    Syllabus

Theme 1: Research in Informatics and digital technologies in their relationship with the teaching of Informatics.

Theme 2:Research problems in computer science education: analysis of the main results in key areas of computer learning in secondary education (e.g. algorithms, programming, web design).

Theme 3: The teacher as a researcher of his teaching practice: perspectives, opportunities and limitations.

Theme 4: Designof methodological instruments for data collection in the investigation of teaching and learning problems in Informatics and subsequent analysis.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

Future teachers must acquire skills and knowledge in this UC being able to:

    • Establish relationships between technological development in Informatics and the problems of teaching Informatics
    • Critically analyze research in the area of teaching Informatics and ICT and recontextualize the results in their professional practice;
    • Recognize the investigative dimension of the IT teacher and understand this dimension in the teacher's professional identity
    • Design methodological tools for data collection for research and further analysis.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

The modality of work in seminars, guided by the teacher) is adopted, focused on the problems identified by students in the class and school they observe at UC IPP III, with a view to problematizing the teaching of a specific topic in this class at CU IPP IV. Students are led to a critical analysis of the scientific literature in the area and to the production or adaptation of data collection instruments and the corresponding form of analysis to produce evidence. The students' activity uses bibliographic resources and their written production shared and discussed in seminars. In each seminar, the constant elements of research carried out on related topics are shared and discussed conclusively.

The evaluation is based on a product consisting of: i) literature review on the research problem chosen for IPP III and intervention in IPP IV, and ii) design of the process(es) and instrument(s) for data collection in the class of the cooperating school at CU IPP IV.
