Class History of Art

  • Presentation

    Presentation

The Curricular Unit is based on the idea that Art History and Communication Design are interconnected. Art has provided numerous visual principles, symbolic systems, and representational strategies from which design originates or influences, with design then transposing these elements and languages ¿¿into new communication contexts. Simultaneously, it is understood that artifacts and works of art are heritage, testimonies to the evolution of human civilization, and constitutive of contemporary society. For Communication Design students, Art History should be understood as an active source of methods, strategies, and visual solutions for contemporary design practice. From here, this course aims for a broad understanding of Art History, understanding it as a fundamental field for our cultural and social constitution. The Bauhaus, a fundamental school in artistic progress and central to the field of Design, is highlighted, relating to Communication Design.
