Objectives
Objectives
The course aims to address basic shortcomings that have long been detected in the training of students (future communicators and journalists) in relation to the country's recent history and the functioning of its institutions and contemporary reality. Based on theoretical exposition, complemented by research and explanation by the students on issues proposed by the syllabus of the course, through the use of text and audiovisual materials, it involves the students both in the development of a historical-political understanding of the constitution of our contemporaneity and in the functional and active understanding of the political-economic, institutional and socio-cultural system in which they live.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Teaching will seek to vary expository methods with the development of practices whenever appropriate, particularly in the second part of the course. In the first part, the theoretical framework and the historiographical path will aim to stimulate students to search for and critique sources, as well as a perspective on the relationship between the past-present-future and the present uses of the History that is narrated. Autonomous research will be valued, preferably bibliographical, but also including digital and audiovisual sources, namely the RTP image archives and period cinematography and documentaries

Assessment
A avaliação consistirá da:
- Submissão via moodle de um trabalho escrito, original e inédito (individual ou de grupo) sobre uma temática à escolha dos estudantes, em data a definir. O trabalho terá 5 pp. de texto máx., formatado a 1,5 espaços, TNR e corpo 11 (20% class. final). Só serão aceites trabalhos cuja execução tenha sido discutida com os docentes durante o período letivo
- Defesa oral do trabalho em aula (60% class. final), em data a acertar com os estudantes
- Qualidade da presença e participação em aula (20%).
No trabalho, indícios de plágio ou elaboração por entidades terceiras, incluindo IA, implicararão o agendamento de um aclaramento oral do trabalho. A classificação será apurada mediante o desempenho do(s) estudante(s) nessa aclaração.
Entregas com atraso só podem ocorrer com prévia autorização da docência e implicam uma penalização de 25% na classificação do trabalho se entregue até 24h após o prazo indicado e de 50% na classificação do trabalho se entregue entre 24h e 72h após o prazo; não serão aceites trabalhos entregues com atraso superior a 72h.
No decurso da defesa, a par do trabalho entregue, poderão ser colocadas questões referentes a tópicos da matéria não abordados no texto submetido.
A avaliação de época de recurso e época especial consiste em exame composto por pergunta de desenvolvimento.
