Presentation
The present curricular unit belongs to the curricular plan of this 1st cycle degree. The main goal of this curricular unit is to provide students with fundamental knowledge in the context of algebra and mathematical and logical reasoning, that are essential in learning the contents of other subsequent curricular units. It is intended that, through various theoretical and practical strategies, students can apply and solidify the knowledge gained throughout the semester on vector spaces, matrices, determinants, systems of linear equations, complex numbers, eigenvectors and eigenvalues and linear transformations.

Objectives
Objectives
At the end of this course unit, students should be able to operate with complex numbers in their different representations; perform matrix operations, solve matrix equations, determine inverse matrices, and calculate determinants; solve and analyse systems of linear equations using matrix methods and Cramer's rule; characterize vector spaces and subspaces, understanding the concepts of linear dependence and independence, basis, dimension, and vector coordinates; determine eigenvalues and eigenvectors and diagonalize matrices whenever possible; understand and apply linear transformations; use MATLAB to solve Linear Algebra problems; and apply the acquired knowledge to Engineering problems, developing logical reasoning, critical thinking, and computational problem-solving skills.
