The curricular unit addresses Information Systems as a tool for organisational management, covering their use, Information Technologies and examples of business use. It includes Management Information Systems and the planning, development and implementation of Information Systems. The curricular unit also aims to develop an understanding of the integration of information across organisational functions, enhancing control and supporting decision-making processes. The applied component uses platforms that support Information Systems, namely SQL Server, Visual Studio with Integration Services and Analysis Services, and Power BI for presenting data through dashboards.

Objectives
The discipline is part of the general level of training in information systems and has as main objectives to provide students with a set of general and specific concepts that allow them to understand and Introduce students to the role of Information Systems in organisational management, promoting the ability to evaluate, plan, develop and implement appropriate solutions. Understand the integration of information across different organisational functions and its contribution to control and decision-making support. Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
The curricular unit provides for the presentation and discussion of topics and, whenever possible, the presentation of existing technologies through application examples that demonstrate the concepts involved. At the end of each topic, exercises are proposed to consolidate learning. Practical work, carried out individually or collectively, enables students to apply the theoretical concepts studied.

Será feita avaliação contínua composta por assiduidade e participação com a realização de casos de estudo no decorrer das aulas, realização de um teste teórico/prático final de avaliação e entrega, apresentação e defesa de um trabalho individual no final do semestre.

Assiduidade e Participação aulas (com 70% de presenças e a realização de casos de estudo nas aulas) no decorrer das 13 sessões de aulas 10% Nota inferior a 8 valores no teste de avaliação será a nota final da disciplina com reprovação.
Trabalho prático individual, com peso de 30% na classificação final:
* O trabalho prático será escolhido de uma lista a fornecer pelo docente ou proposto pelo estudante, ficando o tema sujeito a aprovação.
* O trabalho deverá cumprir os requisitos da proposta aprovada, ser acompanhado de relatório e ser submetido através do Moodle na data indicada pelo docente.
* O trabalho deverá ser preparado para apresentação e defesa oral em sala de aula no dia 15/12/2026. A componente oral é obrigatória e individual, terá a duração de 5 a 10 minutos e incidirá sobre o trabalho apresentado, nomeadamente os conteúdos, a metodologia, as opções técnicas e os resultados, destinando-se a aferir o domínio do estudante e a autoria do trabalho. No âmbito dos 30% atribuídos ao trabalho prático, 20% correspondem ao trabalho e respetivo relatório e 10% à apresentação e avaliação oral. A não realização da componente oral determina a não validação do trabalho.nota: Regime especial de avaliação - os estudantes devem consultar os serviços da Universidade para a possibilidade de poderem estar abrangidos..
