Class Motor Learning and Adaptation

  • Presentation

    Presentation

This course, in the 1st cycle and in the scientific area of Physical Education and Sport, provides a broad and comprehensive approach to the problem of motor learning throughout life. The study of these phenomena focuses on the interdependence between the process of motor development and the various domains of development (i.e. motor, cognitive, affective and social), considering the internal processes associated with practice or experience that lead to a gain in motor performance capacity. The study of the voluntary and controlled transformation of behavior will be approached from an ecological perspective, considering it as the product of the individual's interaction with the environment. This interaction should be guided by principles of human and scientific training, so that motor learning issues are addressed through an efficient and appropriate pedagogical act, within a framework of basic body training, leisure and recreation or performance sport.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

This course aims to provide basic and up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of Motor Learning and Adaptation. In this sense, it is intended that students who attend this course will, at the end of it, be able to demonstrate the following skills: 1) Know and interpret the explanatory references of motor adaptation and learning; 2) Know the processes, operations and essential mechanisms of motor performance and distinguish the theories that frame this knowledge; 3) Know the typical evolution of individuals in learning and the inherent processes; 4) Identify and theoretically frame the influencing factors of motor adaptation and learning.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

Different teaching methodologies (TM) will be employed: Lectures of an expository nature (TM1); Problem-solving of practical cases (TM2); Viewing and discussion of documentaries/videos (TM3); Bibliographic research (TM4); Analysis of scientific articles (TM5); Small group activities (TM6); Practical application of self-assessment tools (TM7); Feedback provided by the instructor on students' work (TM8).
