Class Exercise Prescription and Evaluation

  • Presentation

    Presentation

    This UC, from bachelor and the scientific area of Physical Education and Sports, addresses the study of: 1) the particularities inherent to the processes of evaluation and exercise prescription within the scope of sports sciences (health, recreation and high performance); 2) the fitness evaluation and conditioning protocols in the different areas. These topics are addressed in an integrated manner with the evaluation process, the management of materials and human resources and the collaboration of the various stakeholders (gyms, clubs, and city councils). The theoretical-practical approach of this UC explores the methods and practices of exercise prescription and physical fitness assessment, considering the activities, content and objectives of the different spectrums of the sports graduate's profession. It is intended that the student, through research, debate, critical reflection and practice, understands the specificities and requirements of different performance scenarios.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The main learning objectives (LO) are: LO 1 - Know, apply and interpret the different methods of assessing physical fitness in different areas (health, recreation and high performance), and for the different components of physical fitness in different populations. LO 2 - Know, apply and interpret the different exercise prescription methods in different areas (health, recreation and high performance), and for the different components of physical fitness in different populations. LO 3 - Critically analyze examples and problems identified in a real context through field studies, class observation, and/or in-class seminars, planned and carried out in small groups. LO 4 - Plan and evaluate interventions within the UC, quantifying and qualifying your own results and those of your colleagues.

  • Assessment

    Assessment

    A avaliação é contínua e é levada a cabo nos termos do Regulamento Geral de Avaliação da Universidade. A classificação final é determinada arredondando às unidades o valor das classificações obtidas nos momentos de avaliação, realizados durante o período de aulas: Teste escrito - 50%; Trabalho prático - 50%;

    A classificação final é determinada arredondando às unidades o valor da média aritmética ponderada das classificações obtidas nos momentos de avaliação. Para a aprovação a classificação final terá que ser > ou = a 9.5 valores.

    Os estudantes que não obtenham aprovação poderão submeter-se a exame na época de recurso. O exame de recurso incidirá sobre a totalidade dos CP.
