This C.U aims to promote theoretical and applied knowledge that enables students to plan, conduct, and analyse data in qualitative research with scientific rigour. It introduces the main approaches and techniques used in qualitative research (QR) in psychology. It begins by exploring the paradigms underlying QR and highlighting the differences from quantitative research. The stages of the qualitative research process are covered, from the formulation of research questions and data collection - interviews, focus groups, and ethnography/participant observation - to qualitative analysis (QA) of the data. It explores three QA methods - content analysis, thematic analysis, and grounded theory - with an emphasis on the procedures and application of each method. Quality assessment is discussed in relation to each method. At the same time, students learn how to use NVivo software for QA.

Objectives
Objectives
LO1: Recognize the framework and development of Qualitative Research (QR) in Psychology LO2: Know the procedures and demonstrate qualitative data collection skills in Psychology LO3: Know and understand the diversity of types of qualitative data analysis (QA) LO4: Select and apply different types of QA according to research objectives/questions LO5: Implement the different research phases in a qualitative research project (QR) to be carried out in the practical component of this CU LO6: Demonstrate skills in using qualitative data analysis software (NVivo) LO7: Demonstrate the ability to ensure quality in QR and write QR papers using scientific language

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Interactive exposition (MTL1), combining the expository method (MTL2) with predominantly active techniques (MTL3): demonstration of the content and procedures covered/modeling (MTL4), application exercises (MTL5), critical analysis of procedures (MTL6), and questioning (MTL7). In the practical component, the method is essentially active (MTL3), using the elaboration of a qualitative research project as a source of learning (Project-Based Learning) (IMTLP1). Learning is guided by the tasks they must perform, which require them to apply the content covered and the procedures demonstrated and exemplified, and to develop skills in analysing and integrating information and working in groups.

Assessment
Assessment
