    The main goal of the curricular unit is to introduce students to statistical inference techniques and to linear regression. The syllabus was chosen taking into account the course framework and the syllabus of other curricular units, so that students can continue their studies and develop their professional activity.

    To develop the ability to perform statistical inference and linear regression analyzes. At the end of the curricular unit, students should be able to: draw conclusions about a population for which a random sample is known compare populations based on random samples from each one establish and apply a simple linear regression model carry out the procedures of the previous points, with and without statistical software evaluate and criticize the performed analyzes
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    The proposed teaching methodologies integrate a set of pedagogical innovation practices based on evidence and adjusted to the objectives and contents of the curricular unit. Classes will be of theoretical and practical nature, where the theoretical exposition of the syllabus is accompanied by the presentation of practical examples and problem solving, namely through statistical software, in individual or small group activities with teacher feedback. Students will be exposed to interactive educational resources, such as quizzes and the articulation with other curricular units, namely Quantitative Research Methods, will be evidenced. The evaluation is carried out taking into account the assessment regulation "Regulamento Geral de Avaliação da Universidade Lusófona" (see Avaliação - Instrumentos e Parâmetros de Avaliação )

    A avaliação é contínua e consiste na realização de dois testes escritos e na resolução de um problema, cujas datas de realização serão dadas a conhecer no início do semestre. Os conteúdos programáticos a avaliar em cada um dos momentos de avaliação serão atempadamente divulgados via Moodle. Cada teste terá um peso de 45% na classificação final e a resolução do problema terá um peso de 10%. Os alunos que não obtenham aprovação em avaliação contínua poderão submeter-se a um exame na época de recurso, desde que cumpridas as condições previstas no Regulamento Geral de Avaliação. O exame de recurso versará toda a matéria avaliada na avaliação contínua.

    English:

    The evaluation is continuous and consists of taking two written tests and solving a problem. Dates will be announced at the beginning of the semester. Students will know which subjects will be evaluated in each of the evaluation moments through Moodle. Each test will have a weight of 45% in the final classification and the resolution of the problem will have a weight of 10%. Students who fail in getting approval can go to an exam, provided that the conditions set out in "Regulamento Geral de Avaliação" are met. The exam will cover all the subjects evaluated in the continuous evaluation.
