The course Mediation Theory, Fundamentals and Models introduces students to the main conceptual, social, political and scientific foundations of mediation. It examines the development of mediation, its paradigms and theoretical models, and its relationship with social regulation, conflict resolution, education and social intervention. The course also approaches mediation as both a methodology and a process, exploring the role of the mediator, public and private mediation contexts, and the development of cultures of coexistence and peacebuilding. Learning is supported by participatory methods, including synchronous classes, critical reading, discussion forums, case studies, exercises and collaborative work, fostering analytical and operational skills essential to mediation practice.

Teaching methodologies
Using the teaching-learning pedagogical model as a reference, methodologies are used to promote students' active participation in building theoretical and practical knowledge. TM1. Lectures, concept maps and critical text analysis introduce key concepts, theories, models and approaches to mediation, promoting a solid theoretical foundation and autonomy. TM2. Group discussions, forums and small- and large-group work foster dialogue, critical reflection, communication and analytical skills. TM3. Case studies and case analysis connect theory with real mediation situations, developing autonomy, problem-solving and analytical skills. TM4. Video analysis reinforces analytical and operational skills. TM5. Research exercises and flipped-classroom activities promote autonomy, communication and scientific inquiry. TM6.
