Seminary Augmented Reality Assistance in the Maintenance of the Alfa Pendular Train
The seminar addresses the topic of railway maintenance in the light of technologies that improve operational safety, such as AI and Augmented Reality
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
This event aims to foster connections between students, alumni, faculty, companies, and professionals, focusing on Industrial Engineering and Management. In a setting dedicated to training, experience sharing, and networking, the sessions will offer a variety of activities that will highlight the crucial role of the Industrial Management Engineer in technological innovation and the efficient management of various industrial sectors.
The seminar addresses the integration of Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), 3D BIM models (three-dimensional digital representations of buildings or infrastructure that contain technical information), and maintenance management systems (CMMS – Odoo – to plan, control and optimise the maintenance of assets such as buildings, equipment and infrastructure) within the context of railway maintenance.
Solutions that support assisted diagnostics and interventions through BIM models will be explored, as well as the use of AR glasses for visualising components in a real-world context.
The approach demonstrates how these technologies reduce errors, improve operational safety and support technicians during inspection and maintenance activities, with a focus on the case of the pantograph of the Alfa Pendular train.
