The seminar "Contemporary social movements and the media: interactions and contradictions" aims to encourage discussion around the history and stories of social activism in Portugal.

The seminar “Contemporary social movements and media: interactions and contradictions”, which is part of the FEMglocal – Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions (funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, FCT, through national funds - PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021 ), is scheduled for October 10, 2023, at Universidade Lusófona (Porto University Center) and at Mira Fórum.

Its main purpose is to to encourage discussion around the History and stories of social activism in Portugal, as well as the way in which social activism is implemented. media coverage and the crucial role of the media in dialogue with the public sphere. This seminar also aims to address issues related to feminisms and their interactions with the media, commenting on the journalistic coverage that feminisms have received in the national and international media and how this impacts their presence in the public space and the achievement of their agendas.
