Conference Gamification, Media Literacy and Transformation in Educational Contexts

On 5 and 6 November 2026, Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre will host the European conference of the NewsArcade – Seriously Play the News in the Classroom! (Project No. 101186092).

The event aims to share the results of 24 months of work carried out by the project consortium, as well as to promote broader discussions on gamification, media literacy and educational transformation.

The event will include a talk by Pedro Ferreira (FPCEUP - Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto) on games, education and civic engagement, as well as a round-table discussion on “Literacies and Pedagogies in Game Creation: From Technocentrism to Human-Centred Game Design”. In addition, with the aim of bringing together academics, game developers and designers, media professionals and others interested in media and information literacy, a networking event will take place on the morning of 6 November.

Those interested can still register to attend the event, which will be held in a hybrid format.
