The 5th edition of the conference series with Portuguese contemporary artists arrives at Lusófona University
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The Department of Cinema and Media Arts (DCAM) of Lusófona University presents the 5th edition of its conference series with contemporary artists.
This annual forum has established itself as a privileged space for reflection, where academia and artistic practice intersect to debate the languages, processes and challenges of creation in the 21st century.
This year’s programme stands out for its transversal scope, bringing together leading figures from fields as diverse as visual arts, photography, fashion design, architecture and performance.
Over the course of three months, the University auditorium becomes a laboratory of ideas, welcoming figures such as Pedro Cabrita Reis, Carlos Bunga, João Penalva and Silvestre Pestana, whose works challenge the limits of matter and space. Visual culture and social satire will be represented through voices such as Wasted Rita, while photography and documentary image will be explored by António Júlio Duarte, Rita Lino and Miguel Figueira.
The cycle also highlights the intrinsic relationship between cinema, politics, and film archives, with the presence of director Luciana Fina. From fashion design to experimental architecture, with Lidija Kolovrat, Eduarda Abbondanza, and Didier Fiuza Faustino, the event offers a holistic view of contemporary arts.
The culmination of this edition takes place on 13 May, with the MULTIPLEX event dedicated to Meg Stuart. In an exclusive partnership with Culturgest, this day will be entirely focused on the work of the choreographer and filmmaker, including the screening The Films and a Master Lecture at Lusófona University, concluding with a conversation and the premiere of the work Sulphur Edges at Culturgest.
This series reaffirms the commitment of Lusófona University and DCAM to bringing students closer to the protagonists of the contemporary artistic scene, promoting a critical dialogue that is essential to education in media arts.
