Contest PhD in 3 Minutes: Live Science
Initiative aimed at PhD students, challenging them to present their research clearly, creatively and accessibly in just three minutes
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Lusófona University has opened applications for the first edition of the PhD in 3 Minutes: Live Science competition, an initiative aimed at PhD students that challenges participants to present their research clearly, creatively and accessibly in just three minutes.
Inspired by the international Three Minute Thesis concept, this initiative aims to showcase the research carried out at Lusófona University and strengthen the scientific communication skills of its PhD students. The challenge is simple, but demanding: to explain a central idea of the PhD project in language accessible to non-specialist audiences, without compromising scientific rigour.
More than a competition, PhD in 3 Minutes: Live Science is an opportunity to give science a voice, bring research closer to society and showcase the impact of the knowledge produced at Lusófona University.
Participation takes place in a first stage through the submission of a video, in Portuguese or English, to ilind@ulusofona.pt, by 31 July. The video must be no longer than three minutes and present a central idea of the PhD project in a clear and engaging way.
Following the assessment of the applications, three finalists will be selected and given the opportunity to present their research live during the event Criar Ciência e Fazer Inovação Made in Lusófona, which will take place in September.
The winner will receive financial support to participate in a scientific conference, with prizes also awarded to the second- and third-placed participants. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
Your research deserves to be heard. Will you take on the challenge?
