Conference on Challenges in the Age of Digital Education

Universidade Lusófona is pleased to announce that the international conference Playful by Design 2024 - Transformative approaches to game Studies will take place at our University Center in Lisbon on January 8 and 9. This event aims to address the challenges that various professionals face as educators and, more specifically, their relationship between technology, gamification and teaching. 

The conference will feature an opening keynote by Prof. Maria Horta and a series of thematic round tables with professors from Universidade Lusófona, University of Illinois and Uppsala University, among others, on the first day. On the second day, January 9, there will be a series of workshops for professionals, teachers and researchers. 

The event will be mixed and free of charge, however, we would like to stress the need to register in advance for the workshops.

10.15 a.m. - The Pedagogical-Technological Transformation
Round table - the educational potential of new trends: artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtual reality, etc. How can we make teaching and learning evolve at the same time as our societies evolve?

11.15 a.m. - Coffee Break

11.45 a.m. - Learning with Computers - How not to be a Robot 
Round table - The good, the bad and the ugly of technology and screen time. How do teachers, students, psychologists and the general public react to technology in schools and in different contexts, what are the benefits and what can we expect for our mental health?

12.30 a.m. - Lunch Break

02h30 p.m. - The Value of Gamification and the Potential of Serious Games
Round table - Digital games and learning / Gamification in the classroom and beyond schools. How inclusive gamified experiences can help us teach and learn, from technology-based experiences to analog role playing games.

03.30 p.m. - Production of Digital Educational Resources
Round table - Challenges and good practices in the creation of digital educational resources, some of the most important players and creators in the sector share their experiences. 

04.30 p.m. - Closing
