The BARIMOV project – Effects of reducing sedentary behaviour on physical fitness and on the pathophysiology of obesity in women before and after bariatric surgery – stems from a collaboration protocol between our institution and the Unidade Local de Saúde de Entre Douro e Vouga (ULSEDV), Hospital de São Sebastião de Santa Maria da Feira, also counting on the participation of the Unidade Multidisciplinar de Investigação Biomédica (UMIB) of the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar (ICBAS) of the Universidade do Porto.

BARIMOV takes place at the Centro de Responsabilidade Integrado de Tratamento Cirúrgico de Obesidade e Doenças Metabólicas (CRITCODM) of ULSEDV, which recently received an unprecedented distinction in Portugal, having been recognised as a centre of excellence by the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).

BARIMOV’s main objective is to educate patients about the risks of sedentary behaviour and to reduce their sedentary habits during and after their therapeutic pathway.
