    Biomedical Engineering is an area of multidisciplinary knowledge that aims to study and present solutions in the field of biomedicine, being more focused on areas such as diagnosis, biopharmacy, gene therapy, prosthesis and rehabilitation, development of new biomaterials, biosystems and nanotechnology, until to nuclear medicine. In this curricular unit, diverse and ever-present themes of hospital management are reinforced by concepts important for the future of biomedical engineering, with a view to strengthening their knowledge, skills and evaluation and their decision-making competence.

    Objectives

    Increasingly, technological innovation is interconnected in daily life with organizational innovation and is intertwined with management, areas in which the biomedical engineer will increasingly have responsibilities and opportunities to contribute more effectively to efficiency and to specific sustainability and / and general. The aim is to further enrich the knowledge, capacity and competence of the biomedical engineer, as well as their general health system culture.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The teaching of the course is based on theoretical lectures, presentation and discussion of practical cases, solving practical exercises with debates, Q&A sessions, and case studies. Continuous assessment will account for 10%, with a group project presentation worth 20%, and two tests, each worth 35%. A minimum grade of 10 is required for passing. Students who miss more than 25% of the classes will fail the continuous assessment.
