"To think is to speculate with images" (Giordano Bruno) This curricular unit is conceived as a laboratory for research and creative development, focused on the conceptualisation of film projects. Drawing on the annual theme and the Making of Matter methodology, students undertake research processes that integrate heterogeneous sources, treating both the world and art as raw materials for creation. The course focuses on cinematic pre-writing, encouraging the development of constellations of references that support the formulation of original synopses. The resulting proposals provide a basis for the concurrent Screenwriting course, ensuring a close pedagogical articulation between the two units. Through creative challenges and research-based methodologies, the course develops critical thinking, authorship, and the capacity to structure film projects.

Objectives
Objectives
Upon completion of this unit, students should be able to: * Develop creative research based on the annual theme, integrating references from diverse fields of knowledge and experience. * Apply the "Making of Matter" methodology to the research, organization, and transformation of collected materials into dramaturgical content. * Articulate visual, textual, sonic, and conceptual references to build constellations that support cinematic creation. * Conceptualize characters, spaces, atmospheres, and fictional universes for film projects. * Develop original synopses grounded in research and critical reflection. * Communicate and discuss creative proposals through reasoned argument, integrating critical dialogue into the project's development. * Produce a conceptual dossier documenting the research and providing the foundation for the Screenwriting course. * Demonstrate autonomy, critical thinking, experimentation, and authorial practice.

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Methodologies prioritize Challenge-Based Learning and project development. Learning results from material collection and transformation via the "Making of Matter" methodology. Collaborative work and the use of the Miro platform for the individual dossier ensure a reflective process. Film screenings and debates underpin aesthetic understanding.

Assessment
Assessment
