Presentation
In an increasingly mediatized society, media organizations play a central role in shaping public opinion, promoting citizenship, and building collective knowledge. This course aims to explore the concept of media social responsibility, examining how journalists, media companies, and digital platforms balance freedom of expression with ethical duties toward society. Throughout the semester, topics will include journalistic ethics, combating disinformation, the representation of minorities and vulnerable groups, informational pluralism, industry self-regulation, and the challenges posed by social media and artificial intelligence to the credibility of information. Through the analysis of real-world cases, debates, and critical reading of theoretical texts, students will be challenged to reflect on the role of the media in democracy and to develop an informed and critical perspective on its social, cultural, and political impact.
