Objectives
Objectives
Understand some of Portugal's political, economic, social and cultural issues in the contemporary world. Reflect on the main moments in the construction of the Portuguese state and society (19th and 20th centuries). Analyse the Portuguese Constitutions: fundamental rights, system of government and political representation. Acquire the ability to exercise critical and comparative judgement.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Presentation of the objectives, contents and methodology of the practical lessons on Portuguese constitutional texts (1822, 1826, 1838, 1911, 1933, 1976) on two topics: citizens' rights and duties and powers of state. Setting up working groups on Portuguese constitutional texts with a focus on the Rights and Duties of the Citizen and the Powers of State, with a view to drawing up a written summary script and an oral presentation.
